A disappointing result on a rotten day weather-wise. Put this one down to experience girls and we will move onto the next.
Today proved to be tough conditions in bad weather for both sides, however Clapham seemed far more up for it today with an urgency and a skip in their step which we lacked during the game.
Despite the result, there were some fantastic individual performances and some great highs during the game which are worth mentioning… 2 hungry goals from Rosa were really refreshing. Both set up by Bob, Rosa took the shots brilliantly. Not only was she the goalscorer but Rosa was also a rock in midfield, getting her head on the ball, making important tackles and feeding the ball forward. Well done Rosa – you worked really hard today and earned the goals!
It was also Bob (aka Ella)’s debut today and as well as setting up both goals, she worked tirelessly down the wing weaving in and out of the opposition players and keeping great control of the ball. I am confident you will a great addition to the team Bob. Welcome and well done today.
Carly in defence was solid, making tackles and clearing balls brilliantly. Also Danni (back from injury) stepped into central defence with ease and did her job perfectly. Danni replaced today’s Player of the Match, Jenna, who was subbed before she got pneumonia after spending some of today’s match in various puddles across the pitch! Jenna was excellent in defence and thoroughly deserved today’s nomination due to her fantastic tackling, immaculate control and clearing of the ball, as well as her dedication to the cause by getting stuck in the goalmouth’s puddle to clear the ball. Well done!!
Alas, it wasn't to be today, but we will bounce back next week in the Cup. Hopefully our kits will be clean by then…
